Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Region 5 Adult Education, or just "Region 5", is a consortium of the school divisions in Alleghany, Botetourt, Craig, and Roanoke counties and the cities of Covington, Roanoke, and Salem, under the direction of the Virginia Department of Education: Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education.

We offer GED preparation services, English-language acquisition classes, an adult high school diploma program, career training, and fundamental academic skills remediation to adult students across our service area. Our goal is to empower students to be able to earn family-sustaining wages by increasing employment opportunities, attain enrollment in postsecondary institutions or other training programs, and become more active and engaged people in their families and our neighborhoods.
