Lodi Applesauce

Makes about 3 cups.


  • About 16 Lodi apples
  • 1/2 cup water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar, plus more to taste


  1. Core, peel, and slice apples. Place in a large, heavy pot with a pinch of salt and 1/2 cup of water.
  2. Turn heat to medium. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 30 minutes. When you’ve stirred out most of the lumps, add 1/4 cup sugar.
